This business proposal is about expanding our sewing service to the entire country. Hiring the unemployed, helping youths learn and developed their soft skills. Along with this, bringing in males to join in the sewing and tailor industry.

- Belize has a problem of importation and clothes is one of the most imported items. This happens because we don’t have a garment industry in Belize any more. In accordance to an article (2016,Harrison R., The Garment Industry) the year 2000 the industry exported $40 Million and in 2007 $0. As a result, there are two main reasons importation happens: Firstly, these imported garments are from countries where it they are sold at affordable prices and for the most part are better quality. Secondly, other countries sell cheaper, and poor quality clothing. These are what our neighbouring countries manufacture and the people bring and sell them here in Belize. Therefore, to tackle this problem of importation of cheap garments and poor quality, Gris Sewing Room wants to expand its sewing service to the entire country of Belize, offering affordable prices to our people and good quality clothing. We will hire a designer to ensure that we provide quality garments to our Belizeans. This then will provide employment to Belizeans, and knowledge in the sewing sector. We will most likely focus in hiring and training young people from Corozal to part of Belize City.

- Gris Sewing Room will offer sewing services to companies and schools in Belize and internationally. I have in mind to expand the business more in the future by creating a clothing shop which will not only sell school uniforms but also casual clothing, dress clothing and a variety of other garments. We will sell whole sale to the different clothing shops in the entire country; therefore, little by little the imported garment will go off the shelves. The first step is to tackle Corozal and Orange Walk Districts and gradually the other districts.

- With the expansion of Gris Sewing Room, I believe that our country will benefit from it economically by reducing the importation of clothes. Therefore the money stays within Belize. Also it will benefit the country by providing employment between Corozal and Belize City. We want to hire at least 10-15 person as the first stage, my goal is to hire 100 persons within 2-3 years time, when hiring them they will receive training and should be ready to working within a 6-8 weeks.

- Gris Sewing Room will expand its business by purchasing about 8 new tech sewing machines, employing and training 10-15 youths, and start production as soon as everything is in place contacting companies, schools and organizations to make business with us by contract, estimating this period 3-6 months time. My mom is willing to train these people, she has 20 years of experience in the sewing industry as she worked for both garment industry that once existed in Belize. To generate revenue we have researched to an approximate demand of garments (the picture is a diagram of the research) and discovered that Belize has the capacity to support a robust industry. e.g. According to the report (2016) the picture attached to this proposal, it shows that approximately 78,000 people are in the workforce or in education and it also shows that in total garments need is 140,000. However, when it comes to uniforms for teachers and students, a total of 62,000, need 106,000 garments This means that there is a great opportunity for this industry to excel and reduce the poor quality importation of uniforms from neighbouring countries.
